Experts say 48% of people think an attractive smile is the most memorable feature after meeting a new person for the very first time. While some people are lucky to have naturally straight teeth, Nishita Gandhi, DDS, understands that it takes a little extra help to get there for the rest of us. That’s why she offers Invisalign® clear aligners at both of her offices in the Bronx borough of New York City. Without metal brackets and wires, Invisalign can give you the smile you’ve always wanted. Call or book an appointment online to learn more.
A truly modern approach to straightening your smile, Invisalign clear aligners gradually straighten your teeth with custom-made BPA-free thermoplastic, as opposed to the bulky brackets and metal wires of traditional braces.
These clear aligners are nearly invisible to the naked eye, so you can feel confident about showing off your smile while you straighten your teeth.
Invisalign clear aligners offer a number of benefits over traditional metal braces, such as:
Perhaps the most popular Invisalign advantage is that these custom-fit clear aligners are barely noticeable. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign doesn’t need obvious wires and brackets to straighten your teeth.
While traditional braces are fixed to your teeth, Invisalign clear aligners are entirely removable. These trays must be worn for at least 22 hours a day, but you can take them out to eat, drink, and brush and floss your teeth.
One of the biggest complaints of traditional braces is that the brackets scratch your inner cheeks causing pain and sores. Invisalign clear aligners are as smooth as your natural teeth, so there are no sharp edges to tear up your cheeks.
When you have metal brackets fixed to your teeth for up to three years, it’s hard to effectively brush and floss. Because Invisalign clear aligners are removable, you can take them out to clean your teeth properly, lowering your risk of tooth decay and gum disease.
In most cases, Invisalign straightens your teeth in six to 18 months, whereas traditional braces may take anywhere from 18 months to three years.
If you decide that Invisalign is right for you, Dr. Gandhi first evaluates your smile and designs a customized digital treatment plan using digital impressions — highly accurate impressions that eliminate the need for messy molds. She then inputs these digital impressions into the Invisalign software, which creates a step-by-step plan to straighten your smile.
Dr. Gandhi then sends this plan to the lab to fabricate your unique aligners. Every week or two, you receive a new set, which gradually shift your teeth into place. Each set of aligners targets new teeth or areas of your mouth to ensure your smile straightens in the allotted time.
Because this is an individualized treatment, you must meet with Dr. Gandhi every six weeks or so to make sure everything is progressing according to plan. If not, Dr. Gandhi can restructure your treatment to help you achieve the most attractive smile possible. Call Nishita Gandhi, DDS, or book an appointment online to learn more.
