Crooked teeth can harm your smile and your self-esteem. You want to fix it, but you know braces can be a hassle. That’s why Nishita Gandhi, DDS, offers Invisalign® clear aligners.
She helps patients throughout New York City get straight teeth without the hassle of braces. Here's what you can expect.
Invisalign trays are removable aligners that straighten your teeth. They're a popular alternative to braces because they’re clear, removable, and unnoticeable.
Each tray is custom-made from X-rays and dental impressions of your mouth. Dr. Gandhi uses your digital impressions to create a set of tray aligners. Each tray readjusts your teeth a small amount, so you need a new set every few weeks. Eventually providing you with the smile of your dreams.
Dr. Gandhi may recommend Invisalign if you have the following conditions:
Be sure to discuss your expectations with her. Invisalign can't treat severe gaps or overbites.
Metal braces can scratch and irritate your gums and cheeks. And you need them tightened every few weeks. After they're tightened, you experience soreness and discomfort.
Invisalign trays are tight-fitting and made from plastic. They don't cause irritation or pain to your cheeks.
One of the biggest problems with traditional braces is food getting stuck in them. You have to avoid certain foods because they can damage the wires and brackets. And it's a pain getting the stuck food out.
Since Invisalign is removable, you don't have to change your diet. All you need to do is take them out and chow down. But remember to brush your teeth before putting your aligners back in.
Invisalign treatment is faster than standard metal braces. Traditional braces can take up to three years to straighten your teeth. While Invisalign trays can treat minor problems in as little as six months.
Treatment time is different for all of Dr. Gandhi's patients. During your appointment, she can tell you how long you need to wear your aligners.
Being able to remove your aligners before eating is convenient, but it's important to clean your teeth thoroughly before putting them on again.
Food particles can stain your clear aligners, and bacteria can build up on the inside. To prevent damage or stains to your Invisalign trays, you must brush and floss before you put them on. This promotes better oral hygiene and health since you’re brushing more.
Once Dr. Gandhi makes your trays, you get a new set every week or two and you should see her every six weeks so she can check your progress. Expect to visit us often!
Most of Dr. Gandhi's patients qualify for Invisalign clear aligners. But we don't recommend them for children. Children’s mouths are still developing, so it can be hard to predict how clear aligners affect them.
